SPECIAL NOTICE
September 16, 2011:
In preparation for opening this group, I am releasing this character creation guide now so you all will have a good idea of what to do for your application. PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS if you have any, so I can add them to the guide or create an FAQ or refine my explanations, etc. I'm sure I have missed things here and there, and I'm sorry. I'm doing my best for this group.

Opening day is confirmed to be October 15th.

Application

Thank you for your interest in this group. In order to join The World//Fragment002, you will need to have a character of your own. Please take the time to read this journal, as it is meant to guide you.

First, please use the group application:
Reimann is generous enough  to allow us to continue using the application, so please thank her~

Detailed instructions can be found in the commentary, but if you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

When you complete it, make sure to submit it into the "Applications" section of the gallery.

About your character

At the moment, we are only allowing one Player Character per person.
You will have one real-life character, and one in-game character. The in-game character is the primary focus of this group, but this doesn't mean that your real-life character isn't important!

Develop the background story of your character! How did they come to hear about The World//Fragment002? Why are they playing it? Do they have any connections to some of the tragedies surrounding this game?

If you are wondering what tragedies I am talking about, please read fragment002.deviantart.com/blo… .

In The World

The mechanics The World//Fragment002 and the Player Characters have been changed since it's original release; it has gone far beyond the limits of its previous incarnations.

It is true that Fragment002 reverts back to having Human be the only playable race. However, character creation has become much more in-depth. There is virtually no end to the possibilities when designing a Player Character: Hair color, the shape of the eyes, the form of the body, the style of the clothing... Each Player Character is guaranteed their own unique look.

The gameplay mechanics have been heavily reworked - Victory and power is no longer guaranteed by simply leveling up a Player Character. Instead, a character's level serves more a number marking: it simply keeps track of the relative progress of one's character. Because a higher level does not increase stats at all, a Player Character's performance is determined more by skill and equipment bonuses. Levels do grants access to skills, new quests, special equipment, and other content, however, so it is still important to make progress when possible.

When a character is created, they are already fully equipped with appropriate weaponry and armor. These equipment are completely unique and will stay with your character at all times. Progress through the game will allow you to upgrade or modify them from time to time.

There are special equipment and weapons that are often given as rewards for completing an event. These items almost always have a level requirement and perform much higher than the average counterparts, but they cannot be modified or upgraded in any way whatsoever, reducing the customization opportunities. Some of these special items are also said to have very unique traits, but not too much is known about them.

Design

The will be fairly simple.

Your Player Character will be human, and you may use your imagination from there. Please keep it reasonable.

Unless you are a Hacker, in which case, you may throw in some extra things. But keep in mind that you don't want to go too far, unless you like having the attention of irritated Administrators trying to lock down your account.

Please exercise a decent modesty with character design: We understand that your character is naturally beautiful, but we also would like others to understand that your character is respectable. Just use good judgement.

Try to make your design your own, instead of copying something that already exists. There's a difference between emulating the very unique and awesome style Harvest Clerics in The World and making a carbon copy of Shino and calling it your character.

Admins reserve the right to reject a design. If we do, we will tell you our reasons.

Player Classes

The World//Fragment002 offers an entire universe to explore, but it will not be an easy adventure for just anyone. Your experiences within The World will depend on what class you choose your Player Character to be.

These are the available classes:

Blade Brandier
Edge Punisher
Twin Blade
Flick Reaper
Lord Partizan
Tribal Grappler
Macabre Dancer
Harvest Cleric
Shadow Warlock
Steam Gunner
Adept Rogue

Please read this for detailed information regarding player classes.

Player Types

This is important!

When you create your character application, you will have to fill out what kind of player you are.
There are two different kinds!

One is the Normal Player. This is for the people who will play The World in the ways that it was meant to be played.

The other is the Hacker. This is for the people who love to gamble, using exploits and third-party programs to try and twist a bit of The World to their will.

You may start out as a Normal Player and decide later that you want to hack The World a bit. That is okay, but you will have to change your status to Hacker. However, if you start as a Hacker, there is no turning back to the path of a Normal Player. You can't escape that easily.

If you want to be a Hacker, you'd do yourself good by reading a few tips.

Now, about PKs. (Player Killers)

Anyone can be a PK on a whim. There is no need to specifically designate yourself as a PK or as a non-PK, because situations concerning Player Killing is often quite circumstantial and very difficult to predict. You may not plan to be a PK and end up killing a few bothersome trolls, or you might set forth with the intent of a bloodthirsty PK and find yourself with a sudden change of heart when you meet a cute little noobie.

Of course, if you really are sure that you're definitely a heartless, kill-all-players-on-sight-or-die-trying kinda guy, go ahead and add 'PK' to the player type description in the application. It'll let everyone know that your character is extremely hostile and likely to consider a stab and slash and blast combo a perfectly normal way of greeting someone.

However, even though this PK system sounds extremely free and flexible, it is not without a bit of order. I have written a few guidelines concerning PKs.

more will be info updated as necessary.
